Ice climbing in Stora Sjöfallet!

An ice climbing camp in one of the most complete ice climbing areas in Scandinavia!

We will stay together at Stora Sjöfallet Mountain Lodge and climb for four days. Arrival is Friday, and return home is Monday after climbing. This provides a calm and good framework for the program, with time for both learning, progression and great trips.

Stora Sjöfallet is an incredibly good winter climbing area. Here you will find:

  • Stable winter conditions and cold, dry climate

  • A huge selection of ice falls of all levels , from beginner to advanced

  • Classic lines that are easily accessible from the road

  • Possibility for both single pitch , multi pitch and longer alpine tours

  • A quiet and natural environment in the middle of the Sarek massif

Stora Sjöfallet Mountain Lodge is a perfect starting point: good food, nice atmosphere and short distance to most of the icefalls. It gives us the flexibility to choose routes according to weather, conditions and the group's level.

Focus and content

The program is designed as a combination of courses, technique training and practical climbing . The goal is for you to be able to build your own skills, confidence and independence in ice climbing – including taking the step towards your own ice climbing .

You can see it as a course, but with a lot of climbing , plenty of time on the ice and the opportunity to develop together with other participants who could potentially become future climbing partners.

Alternative arrangement

It is also possible to run the camp with fewer participants , where we focus more on guiding multi-pitch tours . This provides more individual follow-up and the opportunity to climb longer and more alpine lines in the area.

Why climb with a guide?

Ice climbing with a guide is not only a safe way to explore this slightly different activity, but also a learning opportunity. Maybe you just need someone to lead you up the steep and challenging ice.

The tours are adapted to your level, from beginners to experienced climbers, with a focus on both safety and experience. Experience the Swedish winter in raw nature and try your hand at ice climbing in safe conditions.

With an international IFMGA guide you get more than just the ice climbing itself:

  • Safety first – we choose lines and routes that suit the conditions and your level.

  • Local knowledge – we take you to the best and most spectacular ice formations in Romsdalen and Oppdal.

  • Learning on the go – you get tips on technique, ice assessment and use of equipment.

  • Full experience – lower your shoulders and enjoy the climb in safety, surrounded by spectacular winter scenery.
