Stay at one of Norway's coziest hotels and learn everything you want to know about ski touring and safety.
With a stay of three nights and two and a half days skiing, you get a fantastic introduction to the world of ski touring – with safe surroundings, experienced guides and a great atmosphere from start to finish.
The focus will be on learning and development to become more independent in the mountains, but of course there will also be lots of great skiing! This is just a suggestion - if you would like more days or a different schedule, we will of course adapt it to your wishes.
Program proposal
Day 1 – Arrival day
Arrival at Hotel Aak. In the evening we meet for a brief review of equipment, planning and expectations for the coming days.
Day 2 – Full day in the mountains
After a lovely Aak breakfast, we start the day with trip planning – reviewing maps, avalanche warnings and weather forecasts before setting off on our trip. We adapt the day to the group’s level and wishes. Along the way, we focus on avalanche search, rescue and recognizing avalanche terrain. After the trip, a sauna, après-ski snacks and a delicious dinner made from local ingredients by the hotel’s skilled chefs await.
Day 3 – New day, new opportunities
After nok After a good breakfast we head out again for a hike. Today's topic is snow knowledge, assessment, route selection and further practice in avalanche rescue. Of course we are hunting for the best – and safest – snow! Before dinner we gather for a short theory session where we summarize and discuss questions from the days in the mountains.
Day 4 – Return Day
Closing day with a shorter ski tour that you are responsible for planning - a perfect way to test what you have learned!

Good physical condition – you should be able to ascend at least 800–1200 meters in a day and 400 meters per hour.
Basic skiing skills in varied terrain (off-piste) and snow conditions.
Own equipment for ski touring (skis with traps, boots, poles, bag, avalanche beacon, shovel and probe). Available for rent locally.

Here, learning, nature experience and true mountain joy are combined – perfect for those who want to feel safer in the winter mountains and have an unforgettable experience in the heart of what is perhaps Norway’s most beautiful valley. Romsdalen has a large selection of mountains that are well suited for ski touring, from short tours in forest terrain to longer and more complex routes. Peaks such as Blånebba, Kyrkjetaket and Nonstind are classics, but we like to choose routes that are a little out of the ordinary.
